Finally!

The birthday dress that felt like it was never going to end is finally finished.  I'm so relieved!  I won't be posting any pictures until after the 25th.  My husband has been away and we aren't celebrating Valentine's birthday until then, shortly after he gets back.  I've kept the dress hidden so no one knows what it looks like and I don't want to spoil the surprise.  Time for wing busts, as promised!  Weeeee!  I'm excited, are you excited?

A Labour of Love...

...is still a labour!

My in-laws have been looking after Valentine for the weekend and I have made terrific progress with the birthday dress. We're almost there!

It just seems the closer I get to finishing, the slower things go. As the dress comes together it's getting bigger and bigger and fluffier and fluffier. With three linings and a crinoline ruffle - no wonder it's getting hard to work with. I'm presently working on inserting the zipper. It looks like it will need to be hand basted in place before it can be sewn.
